I have integrated a few accounts to start with – hopefully we can remove our own internal gallery and just pick up images from Flickr.

By doing so, we hope to reduce the overhead of members having to upload to multiple galleries.

I usually go walking over the holidays at some point.

I am planning on going to Glen coe – to walk into the lost valley – this is what i would class as a nice easy and safe walk  it would take approx 4.5hrs in and out,a slight hill to start with then you are graced with fantastic scenery ,and hopefully all the snow will still be there .

i have done this walk many times.

 last year i walked in ,the temp was -9 waterfall 100ft frozen solid, plenty photographic opportunities on route .

Now the safety bit

good strong boots required , layers of clothing not masses reasonable fitness required ( Jordan can manage this with no problems ) and it will be a nice easy stroll with plenty stops

gloves hat and scarf to stop the wind chill

and a small towel ! for the cameras to keep them warm as it does get cold up there

anyway :_If anybody is interested post below and we can fix a date i am quite flexible

new years day could be good (Clear the Head)

We are holding an event as part of West Lothian’s Diversity Week, which celebrates what West Lothian means to all communities. We are planning a photography competition based on the theme of “what West Lothian means to me” and are looking for entries.

Description / Theme: What West Lothian means to me

Entry Fee: Free

Prize: £25 Jessop Voucher

Eligibility: Anyone living in West Lothian As part of West Lothian’s Diversity week we are looking for people of all nationalities living in West Lothian to enter a photograph. This is very much open to your interpretation, and we would like you to let us know why your choice means West Lothian to you. Good luck to you all, and enjoy yourselves!

Closing Date: 23 November 2009

Application: Please hand in or post photographs for the attention of Kate Robb at the Council Information Services, Strathbrock Partnership Centre, 189a West Main Street, Broxburn Photographs can be black and white or colour and must be mounted in card. Photographs must be no larger than A4 size. Please put your name, address and photography club on the back of your photo. We will return all photos to your photography club.

Copyright ownership: The photographer must be the sole author and owner of the copyright of photos entered in to the competition. The copyright remains with the photographer, although by entering the competition you authorise West Lothian Council a non exclusive royalty free usage of your photo in the promotion and use of this competition for a maximum period of 3 years with credit to the photographer. If at all possible, it would be great if this could be circulated to your members. Photographs will be on display on Tuesday 24th November between 4 and 7pm at Strathbrock Partnership Centre, 189a West Main Street, Broxburn. If members would like a laminated copy for a £2.00 donation to the club funds – please let me know and I’ll get it done.

If you are comfortable uploading your own images – please feel free to replace the pruned images with new images. Anyone who is not comfortable or does not have access – please provide images to me in the standard club format and I’ll upload them for you.

This action was discussed and agreed at the club on 16/09/2009. The reason for the action is to encourage members to show off their more recent works and to encourage member to upload images on a regular basis.
